Salary: USD 220,000 - 303,000 / annual
Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Developer Observability Platform team. You will manage a high-velocity, customer-obsessed international and distributed team focused on making telemetry discoverable and actionable in one place.
The role is deeply cross-functional, requiring you to understand the nuances of monitoring complex, high-volume primitives such as Workers, Workers for Platforms, Agents, and Durable Objects. You will interface directly with some of Cloudflare's biggest customers and be responsible for delivering excellent customer outcomes.
Key responsibilities include:
- Delivering excellent customer outcomes and being accountable for building, planning, deciding, designing, and communicating solutions
- Setting technical and product vision alongside your PM and engineers to build the right thing at the right time
- Building an observability platform for the AI-driven ecosystem, where agents require new types of observability
- Owning operational aspects including SLOs, incident response, customer escalations, and technical debt management
- Recruiting, mentoring, and growing engineers while maintaining high standards
- Cultivating a team culture that values fast iteration, high agency, and ownership
- Working cross-functionally with platform and product teams to instrument and surface meaningful, actionable data
This is a high-visibility role that combines hands-on technical leadership with people management. You will stay close to the code, know the numbers, understand customer needs, and drive what to build next.
Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of relevant industry experience, including at least 4 years managing software engineering teams
- Proven track record leading teams that have shipped and operated complex, large-scale systems and data-driven applications, preferably in observability, developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, edge/proxy systems, or high-scale APIs
- Significant technical depth with ability to guide architectural discussions, make credible technical decisions, review designs, and unblock your team
- Strong developer tools taste and hands-on experience with observability products
- Demonstrated ability to hire, coach, and develop senior engineers and build high-performing, inclusive teams
- Hands-on leadership approach; you consider yourself a builder and stay close to the code
Bonus experience:
- Working on hosted customer-facing observability products
- Instrumenting observability in global-scale, production environments
- Implementing observability tools (OTLP, OLAP databases like Clickhouse, Grafana, Elasticsearch, Kibana)
- Experience building with Cloudflare's Developer Platform with opinions on observability improvements
