Salary: USD 218,300 - 327,500 / annual
Rubrik is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Cloud Direct team, which helps customers manage and analyze petabytes of data and billions of files and objects. Based in Palo Alto, you will drive a team responsible for building scalable data protection, search, security, and analytics capabilities on cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP).
You will own the technical roadmap and vision, working closely with distributed teams in Bangalore and Seattle. Key responsibilities include setting clear goals, removing blockers, championing engineering excellence, and applying first-principles thinking to complex technical problems. You'll represent the customer perspective, enable team self-organization, and drive continuous improvement in product quality and velocity.
The role emphasizes people leadership: growing employees through career development, coaching, and mentoring; providing clear progression paths; and building strong team identity across time zones. You'll also work directly with customers and vendors to understand their needs and ensure product-market fit.
Required experience: 10+ years in software engineering with 3+ years in engineering management. Preferred qualifications include deep expertise in distributed systems, file system architectures, SaaS enterprise software development, and proven success leading cross-functional, geographically distributed teams. Experience with storage, compute, and infrastructure systems is valued, as is a track record of building strong engineering practices and processes.
