Omada Health is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead multiple engineering squads building the member-facing platform for a healthcare delivery company focused on chronic disease management. You will own what gets built, in what order, and how the people building it grow.
In this role, you manage multiple squads from prototype to production, including maintenance and on-call rotations. You stay deeply technical—writing production code off the critical path in the same codebase and agent workflows your engineers use—while also managing people and shaping roadmaps. You partner closely with Product Strategists to balance what should be built with what can be delivered, by when, and at what cost. Your technical input shapes the roadmap rather than just responding to it.
Key responsibilities include: owning delivery across squads (sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, estimation); improving cycle time while maintaining quality; staying hands-on with architecture reviews and incident response; partnering with product leadership to clarify scope; growing direct reports (if any) whose squad health becomes your work product; planning team composition and skill mix for the next year; establishing and spreading AI development standards across the organization; and identifying and solving cross-squad engineering problems that slow the broader org.
You are comfortable being accountable for what your squads ship. You have a point of view on where AI-assisted development helps and where it creates rework, grounded in real team experience. You have grown someone into a leadership role and understand the difference between doing the work for them and raising their ceiling. Your first team is your peer group; when something is slowing down engineering and it's nobody's job, you pick it up, get the right people in the room, and finish it.
Omada Health is a Nasdaq-listed company reversing how healthcare is delivered in America, combining human-led care teams, connected devices, and AI-enabled technology to serve chronic conditions like obesity, diabetes, hypertension, and musculoskeletal issues. Tech stack: Ruby on Rails, Python (Flask, FastAPI), React, native iOS (Swift, SwiftUI), native Android (Kotlin), PostgreSQL, GraphQL, AWS (RDS, SQS), Docker, Kubernetes, GitLab, Datadog, PagerDuty.
**Requirements:**
- 8+ years in software engineering, including 4+ years managing engineers directly
- Demonstrated experience developing another leader: a manager who reported to you, or an engineer you grew into a tech lead or EM role with real accountability
- Track record shipping mission-critical software to production and owning the outcomes, including mistakes
- Experience owning prioritization and estimation for a team, including saying no and explaining why
- Experience giving direct developmental feedback and managing someone through underperformance with real support
- Currently or recently shipping production code in at least one layer of the stack (backend in Ruby/Python, React frontends, iOS, or Android), with enough breadth to follow conversations in other layers and review architecture critically
- Comfort with expert-generalist team models where engineers ship across multiple layers
- Hands-on experience directing AI agents through real-world production changes, with a considered view on where they help and where they create rework
- Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and telemetry at the level where you can assess your squad's operational story
- Excellent written communication skills
