Salary: USD 190,000 - 235,000 / annual
KAYAK, part of Booking Holdings, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead engineering teams building KAYAK for Business (K4B), a corporate travel technology platform. This role is based in the Kaunas office with a hybrid arrangement requiring 3 days per week on-site.
You will lead one or more cross-functional agile engineering teams focused on sustaining and operational quality. Key responsibilities include:
- Mentoring teams through technical guidance, performance feedback, and career development
- Owning the team's technical roadmap and aligning priorities with engineering leadership
- Championing backend architecture decisions through design reviews and collaboration with technical leaders
- Setting and enforcing engineering best practices for coding, testing, code coverage, and deployment quality
- Managing day-to-day operations: removing blockers, balancing backlogs, maintaining reliability and security standards
- Collaborating with peer engineering managers and cross-functional stakeholders to resolve dependencies
- Ensuring business unit-wide quality standards, processes, and SLAs
- Managing high-impact incident remediation and operational tool development with AI-enabled technologies
- Monitoring team health and delivery metrics, identifying risks early
- Championing agile practices and high-impact engineering culture
- Recruiting and onboarding frontend/backend engineering talent
You will work within a global engineering organization spanning multiple time zones and office locations, supporting product teams across the company.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, with at least 5 years in an engineering leadership or management role directly managing software engineers; proven track record of leading productive teams and shipping high-quality software in fast-paced environments
- 3+ years managing teams within B2B SaaS applications, with focus on quality operations, enterprise maintenance, system sustainability, and meeting contractual SLAs
- Demonstrated experience with quality process design and building quality-first culture
- Experience overseeing cross-functional teams (quality engineers, QA specialists, frontend/backend engineers)
- Proven ownership and innovation in data-driven, results-oriented environments with ability to rapidly learn new business domains
- Experience steering organizational transformation, maximizing agile methodologies, and fostering process optimization
- Strong technical fundamentals in distributed systems, API design, and backend service architecture; ability to credibly guide architectural decisions and participate in design reviews
- Full people management lifecycle experience: hiring, onboarding, performance management, career development, promotions; strong track record of coaching engineers at multiple levels through structured feedback and career conversations
- Solid understanding of agile delivery methodologies, SDLC, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and observability practices
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to articulate technical vision to technical and non-technical audiences
- Hands-on experience with modern development tooling: version control (GitHub), issue tracking (Jira), logging/observability platforms; openness to AI-assisted development tools
- Comfort working in global engineering organizations with distributed teams
- Degree in Computer Science or related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
