Tulip Interfaces, an MIT spinoff and leader in AI-native frontline operations, is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead their Identity & Access Management team. The role is based in Somerville, MA with a hybrid work model (3+ days/week in office). You will own the architecture and roadmap for identity and access systems, including SSO/SAML/OIDC federation, SCIM provisioning, multi-tenant account structures, and authorization layers across Tulip's multi-cloud infrastructure. This is a security-critical domain where failures directly impact customers—halted production lines, scrapped material, and compliance risks are real stakes. You'll lead and grow a small, high-caliber engineering team, running 1:1s, setting quality standards, providing direct feedback, and developing engineers on security-critical systems. You'll represent Identity & Access in cross-functional architecture reviews and roadmap decisions, collaborating with Security, Infrastructure, Platform Engineering, Product Management, and Customer Success. Key responsibilities include protecting operations where failures carry tangible consequences, owning IAM and access policy decisions where tenant isolation and enterprise compliance are non-negotiable, driving adoption of AI tooling in how the team builds (code review, test generation, spec drafting), and shipping work that reaches customers quickly and reliably. Required experience: 8-9+ years of software engineering with 3+ years managing engineering teams in B2B SaaS. You need hands-on depth with OAuth 2.0, SAML 2.0, OIDC, and SCIM in enterprise environments; experience building multi-tenant systems with hard tenant isolation requirements; working knowledge of IAM, secrets management, and access policy across AWS and Azure; a track record of shipping clean, tested code; and active use of AI tooling in your own practice. Tulip is a World Economic Forum Global Innovator, 2024 Deloitte Technology Fast award winner, and recognized as one of Energage's Top Workplaces USA. The company has offices in Germany, Hungary, Singapore, and Israel.
