As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead 6-15 engineers across multiple teams, serving as the bridge between technology and member impact. Your responsibilities include setting technical direction by balancing technical debt with feature delivery, establishing quality standards through code reviews, and driving operational excellence in monitoring and security. You'll build talent density through strategic hiring, honest performance management, and creating engaging technical challenges that excite engineers.
You'll enable effective collaboration across crews by fostering psychological safety, facilitating knowledge sharing, and addressing team dynamics proactively. You'll drive strategic alignment with product partners, improve development efficiency using modern tools (AI, Cursor, Dust), and ensure realistic commitments that balance technical needs with business goals. The role remains hands-on—you'll stay involved in architecture decisions, technical problem-solving, and maintaining your engineering skills while developing as a leader.
You bring 3-5 years of experience managing engineering teams with a track record of building high-performers and scaling teams while establishing engineering excellence standards. You have a strong technical background enabling you to guide architectural decisions, experience with modern development practices and AI-assisted tools, and recent hands-on technical experience (2-3 years). You balance technical debt with feature delivery while maintaining quality, develop people as much as products, and show clear progression in your management career with increasing team size, scope, and strategic impact.
