Tiger Data (formerly Timescale) is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Database team, which owns TimescaleDB and other critical products. The company provides the fastest PostgreSQL platform for transactional, analytical, and agentic workloads, trusted by over 2,000 customers globally and powering 3+ million active databases.
In this role, you will lead multiple globally distributed teams of database internals engineers, owning hiring, performance management, career development, and team health. You'll own team execution and collaborate with Product to set the technical roadmap, balancing speed, quality, and long-term maintainability. You'll partner closely with the Platform Engineering team and other engineering leaders to build a world-class experience for customers on Tiger Cloud. You'll engage with high-value customers on escalations and elevated technical needs, translating their experiences into product priorities. As a leader, you'll set a high bar, mentor your team, and help the broader engineering organization succeed.

REQUIREMENTS:
- 8+ years of engineering experience
- Minimum 4+ years managing engineers or engineering teams
- Track record of building and leading high-performing teams that ship industrial-strength systems software
- Strong technical depth in distributed systems or databases
- Experience with C/C++ on large code bases is highly desirable (not required)
- Familiarity with PostgreSQL internals is a strong plus (not required)
- Solid knowledge of SQL, query processing, database engines, concurrency control, data replication, and/or distributed systems
- Passion for building highly reliable system software and developing the people who build it
