Coinbase is seeking a Senior Engineering Manager to lead the Core Automation team, which is building AI-powered operations to automate compliance and internal processes at scale. This is a newly formed team at the forefront of applying Agentic AI and large language models to reimagine how compliance operations work in a fully automated world.
You will build and manage engineering teams focused on the compliance domain, guiding the development of features, services, and infrastructure that leverage advanced GenAI techniques. Your responsibilities include exploring and applying LLMs and Agentic AI to solve complex organizational challenges, partnering with Operations and Compliance teams to maximize impact, and designing scalable systems using modern cloud technology.
Key duties include hiring and growing a high-performing team, planning and designing software systems for cloud-based tools, collaborating with engineers, designers, product managers, and senior leadership to translate vision into quarterly roadmaps, and coaching team members on design principles, coding standards, and AI productivity tools. You will review and ensure security, scalability, and architectural integrity across teams, lead multiple engineering efforts in parallel while maintaining service quality, and create processes to improve engineering quality and AI adoption.
You are expected to be a thoughtful technical voice within the team, aiding in architectural decisions and fostering a culture of high-quality code. You can be hands-on when needed—writing and reviewing code, participating in on-call rotations, and troubleshooting issues.
