As Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a high-impact engineering team with primary focus on people leadership, mentorship, and engineer growth. You'll be responsible for team development, coaching engineers at various career stages, and creating clarity around priorities and ownership. Your role spans team leadership, execution planning, hiring, career development, architecture discussions, technical strategy, and engineering process improvement.
You will stay close to the technical work—understanding system design, participating in architecture discussions, reviewing code, and helping evaluate technical tradeoffs—while primarily enabling the team rather than contributing production code regularly. You'll support projects from conception through completion, work with product and engineering leadership to define priorities, and help drive architectural improvements focused on scalability, reliability, and maintainability.
Key responsibilities include: leading and mentoring engineers with focus on career growth; creating clarity around priorities and expectations; partnering with product and engineering leadership on execution; staying involved in technical planning and architecture; helping unblock engineers; contributing to product conceptualization; driving engineering standards and quality culture; supporting hiring and onboarding; and fostering a collaborative, low-ego, high-ownership culture in a fully remote environment.
You should have 7+ years of professional software engineering experience, preferably with modern web applications. You need genuine interest in people management, coaching, and engineer growth, plus strong technical judgment to understand code, architecture, and system design. Experience managing or mentoring engineers in fast-moving technical environments is required. Bachelor's degree in Computer Science (or related field) is required. You should be comfortable with databases, query optimization, and designing systems with scalability and security in mind.
