Sydecar is transforming private markets by making them more accessible, transparent, and liquid through a platform that automates banking, compliance, contracts, taxes, and reporting for venture capital investors. You'll lead one of Sydecar's core product engineering teams, combining technical leadership with people management. This role bridges hands-on technical involvement with team building, requiring someone who can drive business-critical initiatives while maintaining focus on exceptional user experiences. Key responsibilities include: **Product Outcomes & Technical Strategy**: Own business-critical initiatives by partnering with Product and Design. Translate company strategy into clear, actionable technical plans with measurable outcomes. Prioritize high-impact work and lead effectively in ambiguity by structuring complex problems and creating alignment. **Technical Execution & Decision-Making**: Guide architectural thinking and support strong technical decisions without becoming a bottleneck. Help the team balance delivery speed with technical sustainability. Set a high bar for quality through craftsmanship, operational rigor, and scalable thinking. **Team Leadership & Growth**: Build a high-trust, high-performing engineering team focused on ownership, urgency, and product impact. Invest in engineer development and create growth opportunities aligned with team goals. Act as a force for clarity and alignment across engineering, product, and cross-functional partners. You'll need 3–5 years of engineering management experience in fast-moving, product-led environments, plus 8+ years of hands-on software engineering. A track record of shipping meaningful, high-impact product work and experience in venture-backed startups or fast-scaling companies is essential. The ideal candidate has product fluency, systems thinking, clarity in communication, and a builder's mindset. You understand how software is built end-to-end and how technical work connects to user outcomes and business goals. You're comfortable with ambiguity and thrive in dynamic, evolving environments. Sydecar values commitment, excellence, humility, and winning together. The role is hybrid (2 days per week in office) with flexibility between San Francisco and New York City offices.
