Parloa is building Europe's leading engineering organization to deliver an iconic AI Platform for Fortune 2000 enterprises. The company's Agent Management Platform (AMP) is evolving into the AI Agent Management layer for enterprise AI transformation, competing directly with big-tech companies and AI-native startups in a fast-moving market.
As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will own delivery and business outcomes across a large team, multiple teams, or a domain spanning several teams. This role operates at a higher altitude than a standard Engineering Manager—you communicate credibly with Directors and VPs, frame recommendations and trade-offs, and own the narrative for cross-functional work that extends beyond your immediate teams.
Key responsibilities include: owning delivery across multi-team or multi-domain scope with clear milestones and quality gates; setting strategy and roadmap collaboratively with Product, framing engineering investment in commercial terms (revenue, retention, margin); authoring durable artifacts (plans, RFCs, escalation memos, postmortems) that drive stakeholder alignment; partnering with Staff+ individual contributors to shape technical direction and manage tech debt; maintaining operational discipline across on-call, incident response, and reliability targets; designing the operating model for your scope including roles, ownership, and multi-team operating rhythm; growing the next layer of leaders by hiring senior ICs up to Staff level and developing future managers; and systematically eliminating classes of blockers rather than individual incidents.
You are not primarily a manager of managers, though some Senior EMs move toward Director roles. The people work intensifies at this level rather than becoming lighter. You will work within Parloa's engineering structure of Customer Experience Automation (CXA), Product Platform, and Technology Platform, delivering a Composable Customer Experience Platform built from Packaged Business Capabilities.
The role requires 10+ years in software engineering with 4–6+ years of people leadership experience. You should have proven ownership of outcomes across multiple teams or complex domains, credibility with senior leadership, and the ability to frame trade-offs and drive decisions through written and verbal communication.
