Salary: INR 9,424,000 - 9,424,500 / annual
Coinbase's Data Platform team builds foundational infrastructure for storing, moving, managing, and using data at scale—including storage, streaming, data lakes, analytics, and experimentation. As a Senior Engineering Manager, you will lead a team of engineers developing reliable data services and the privacy and governance capabilities that enable teams to use data responsibly.
You will lead, coach, and grow engineers on your team, supporting their development and career progression. You'll partner with Product, Design, Engineering, and senior leadership to set a clear quarterly roadmap and deliver it iteratively. You'll guide technical decisions, promote high-quality code, sound engineering practices, and reliable distributed systems. You'll stay close to the work through design and code reviews, incident leadership, on-call participation, and troubleshooting when needed.
You'll own processes that improve engineering quality and help the team meet its service-level commitments. You'll also partner with recruiting to attract and hire strong engineers.
Coinbase is a remote-first but not remote-only company. Expect to gather quarterly for intense in-person working sessions called "surges."
REQUIREMENTS:
- 7+ years of software engineering experience, ideally in data platform or infrastructure, including 2+ years in engineering management
- Experience building, delivering, and operating distributed systems at scale
- Strong engineering judgment and ability to foster quality, maintainability, and effective development practices
- Execution-focused approach: able to work through ambiguity, balance near-term delivery with long-term planning, and turn complex goals into actionable work
- Hands-on leadership style and willingness to engage in technical work and operational responsibilities
- Experience leading technical change in a large, fast-moving organization
- Familiarity with blockchain infrastructure, such as Bitcoin or Ethereum
- Clear communication, ownership, and strong customer focus
- Ability to utilize generative AI responsibly, maintaining human oversight to deliver business-ready outputs and drive measurable improvements in workflow efficiency, cost, and quality
