Turquoise Health is a Series C healthcare price transparency platform backed by a16z, Oak HC/FT, and other leading VCs. The company is building infrastructure to make healthcare pricing simpler, more transparent, and lower cost for patients and organizations.
You will lead Turquoise's AI Team as Senior Engineering Manager, responsible for the overall direction, quality, and impact of a high-performing engineering group building AI applications and integrations that are core to the platform. This is a hands-on leadership role split roughly 60% people leadership and 40% technical contribution.
Key responsibilities include:
- Managing and coaching a team of talented engineers with regular feedback and career development
- Structuring and sequencing work, communicating status and quality metrics for all deliverables
- Serving as a counterpart to Product, translating strategy into actionable roadmaps and engineering plans
- Building and sustaining a high-performing, inclusive team culture
- Contributing directly to the design and implementation of production systems
- Owning architectural decisions involving API design, integrations, and infrastructure
- Leading the team's operational readiness, including observability, AI system evaluation, and testing
- Ensuring AI applications remain efficient and cost-effective as the company scales
The role is fully remote and US-based. Turquoise is a remote-first company operating on US business hours with clients entirely based in the US.
REQUIREMENTS:
- 6+ years of production experience in Python
- 2+ years of managing a team
- Hands-on experience with modern AI/ML tools and frameworks
- Demonstrated experience shipping a complex system with significant customer impact
- Ability to work effectively across functions and levels
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Current authorization to work in the United States (no visa sponsorship available)
