Salary: USD 205,379 - 215,648 / annual

Archer Technologies is building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. As a Senior Engineer in State Estimation and Modeling, you will architect and design advanced state estimation algorithms for eVTOL aircraft, balancing safety, performance, robustness, and computational efficiency. Your core responsibilities include implementing state estimation algorithms primarily in Simulink while adhering to modeling standards and best practices. You will integrate state estimation solutions with aviation-grade hardware components including air data systems, Inertial Navigation Systems (INS), Global Navigation Satellite Systems (GNSS), and other sensors. You'll synthesize system requirements to drive design and ensure cross-functional alignment. A significant portion of your work involves developing and executing creative verification and validation (V&V) strategies for state estimation algorithms through simulation, hardware-in-the-loop (HIL) testing, and flight testing. You will develop and refine models to simulate sensors under nominal, degraded, and failure scenarios, then analyze and interpret data from simulation, lab testing, and flight testing to identify issues and characterize real-world performance. You'll collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including control laws, hardware, software, and test engineers to solve complex aircraft-level problems and ensure seamless integration. Additionally, you will build tools and processes to maximize engineering capability across the organization. Minimum requirements: Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Robotics, or related field with 60 months of experience in sensor fusion algorithm development and sensor modeling/simulation. Alternatively, a PhD in a related field with 36 months of relevant experience qualifies. No visa sponsorship available.
