LeanData is seeking a Senior Engineer to own and scale the distributed data ingestion and job systems that power their GTM analytics platform. You will design and build the multi-tenant data platform that AI agents reason over, handling full loads and incremental syncs across many customer sources with correctness and idempotency as core requirements.
Key responsibilities include:
• Owning the distributed ingestion and job systems that pull customers' GTM data into the platform, ensuring full loads and incremental syncs work correctly and idempotently across many tenants and sources
• Designing and building the multi-tenant data platform including the canonical data model, its evolution, the serving and query layer, and the contracts other services depend on
• Building for scale and concurrency from the start: handling many tenants, large enterprise organizations, hundreds of concurrent jobs and agent reads, with latency, cost, and correctness under failure as first-class concerns
• Owning reliability and observability of your services through instrumentation, tracing, SLOs, and operational health of the data plane
• Keeping the platform source-pluggable by extending ingestion to new systems behind clean adapter contracts without rewriting the engine
• Partnering directly with the SVP of Engineering on platform and data architecture, including schema evolution, survivorship, and entity resolution at scale
You should have 5+ years building production backend and distributed systems with deep ownership of high-throughput data pipelines, job/workflow systems, or multi-tenant data platforms. Strong Python skills (TypeScript a plus) and production code experience required. You need distributed-systems fundamentals including concurrency, idempotency, consistency, partitioning, retries, and failure recovery. Cloud-native development experience (AWS or equivalent) with containerized services, queues, workers, and object storage is essential. Strong relational data modeling and SQL at scale (Postgres preferred) with experience owning production database schemas is required. High agency and ability to scope, prioritize, and ship independently are critical.
Bonus experience includes working with Salesforce or enterprise data sources, multi-tenant isolation patterns, master-data management, entity resolution, durable execution frameworks (Temporal, Inngest), and modern observability tools. Founding or founding-engineer background is a plus.
The role is based in Santa Clara with required in-office presence Mondays and Wednesdays, with lunch provided. LeanData offers competitive benefits including 90% coverage of employee insurance premiums, stock options for all full-time employees, flexible PTO, and a 401K plan.
