Oyster is a global employment platform that enables companies to hire, pay, and manage talent anywhere in the world. The Platform Flow Engineering team builds the systems, tooling, and infrastructure that allow engineers to ship software quickly, safely, and reliably at scale.
As a Senior Platform Engineer, you will shape platform capabilities spanning CI/CD, cloud infrastructure, observability, developer tooling, and operational workflows. You'll work closely with application and security engineers to remove infrastructure complexity, improve developer experience, and build reliable, secure foundations.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain internal tooling, packages, and abstractions that create self-service paths for engineers and reduce operational toil
- Build, operate, and continuously improve reliable, automated CI/CD pipelines enabling frequent, safe deployments
- Operate and improve Oyster's AWS infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, focusing on scalability, availability, security, and cost efficiency
- Apply SRE principles, observability, and incident-management practices to reduce outages and accelerate recovery
- Identify and implement practical ways to use AI and automation to improve developer productivity and reduce operational work
- Understand internal engineering team needs and turn recurring pain points into scalable platform solutions
- Partner closely with application, security, and infrastructure teams to diagnose issues and support incident response
Required qualifications:
- 5+ years in Platform Engineering, DevOps, SRE, Infrastructure Engineering, or similar production engineering role
- Strong software development experience with ability to build maintainable automation and tooling
- Proven experience designing and operating production systems on AWS
- Strong Infrastructure as Code experience (Terraform or equivalent)
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline and deployment automation experience
- Experience with observability and monitoring tools (Datadog, Sentry, or equivalent)
- Strong understanding of reliability, incident response, and operational best practices
- Platform mindset: thinking of internal teams as customers, reducing cognitive load
- Strong communication and collaboration skills in remote, asynchronous environments
- Reliable home internet connection and fluent English
Bonus experience includes internal developer platforms, AI coding assistants, Ruby on Rails, modern CI/CD platforms (Harness, Drone), application platform automation, developer environment optimization, and remote-first team experience.
