You'll join one of 40+ engineering teams working on Tide's event-driven microservice architecture (200+ services). As a Senior Backend Engineer, you'll own the full lifecycle of microservices—designing, building, running, and scaling them globally.
Key responsibilities:
- Contribute to and maintain microservices in an event-driven architecture
- Build services using Java 21, Spring Boot, and JOOQ
- Design and consume RESTful APIs (treated as products, often public in Open Banking)
- Work with SNS/SQS and Kafka for event-driven communication
- Use PostgreSQL via AWS Aurora as primary datastore
- Deploy to production multiple times daily via GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines
- Implement modern GitOps with ArgoCD, Docker, Terraform, EKS/Kubernetes
- Monitor services using Coralogix
- Collaborate with Product Owners on user needs, business opportunities, and regulatory requirements
Required experience:
- Server-side application development with strong programming fundamentals (Java preferred but not required)
- Backend framework experience (Spring/Spring Boot) building microservices with RESTful APIs
- Cloud-native scalable and reliable solutions (CI/CD, practical Agile)
- Secure, well-tested, well-documented software with third-party integrations (fintech experience valued)
