Horizon3.ai is a fast-growing cybersecurity company on a mission to help organizations proactively identify and fix exploitable attack vectors before criminals exploit them. The flagship product, NodeZero, delivers production-safe autonomous pentests and security assessments that scale across internal, external, cloud, and hybrid environments. The company is founded by former U.S. Special Operations cyber operators, startup engineers, and cybersecurity practitioners, and serves organizations from educational institutions to Global 100 enterprises. As a Senior Backend Engineer focused on Security Controls, you will own the security controls integration platform that abstracts the complexity of the EDR (Endpoint Detection and Response) ecosystem from the rest of the system. This is a key technical role on a world-class software engineering team contributing to both user-facing product launches and platform enhancements. Core responsibilities include designing and building dedicated normalizers per EDR vendor with rigorous testing to maintain trustworthiness as vendor APIs evolve; developing core product features in ETL and GraphQL to support data processing and retrieval; designing and implementing backend APIs in GraphQL to facilitate data interactions between product components; building and maintaining ETL pipelines for efficient data processing and analytics; and collaborating with frontend teams to present data in clear, user-friendly formats. You will bring deep experience building and maintaining third-party API integrations at scale, hands-on familiarity with EDR platforms and understanding of how SOC teams consume EDR data, and the ability to conceive and implement solutions independently and collaboratively. You should have strong analytical and problem-solving skills, excellent technical documentation ability, and interest in mentoring junior and mid-level engineers. The role requires 7+ years of professional software engineering experience using modern languages (Python, Java, Go, Scala, C++, TypeScript), experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP), container technologies (Docker, Kubernetes), and expert SQL proficiency. Preferred qualifications include experience with relational and graph databases, GraphQL backends, production infrastructure management, and building platform capabilities for internal teams. Horizon3 offers competitive compensation with base salary $199,750–$270,250 annually plus equity (stock options), comprehensive health/vision/dental insurance, flexible vacation, generous parental leave, and a collaborative, inclusive culture that values diversity and encourages creativity.
