Infleqtion is commercializing atom-based quantum products for sensing and computing applications. Within the Computing Product Group's Hardware Engineering Team, this Senior Embedded Software Engineer role owns and delivers high-performance embedded and systems software enabling real-time quantum error correction and classical control at scale. As a senior-level individual contributor, you will independently own complex subsystems end-to-end within an established architecture, solve technically hard problems, interact directly with external partners (including NVIDIA), and mentor developing engineers. You will serve as the technical point-of-contact for NVIDIA NVQLink integration and hardware/software co-design. Key responsibilities include: - Design, implement, validate, and maintain embedded and systems-level software subsystems supporting real-time quantum error correction and control - Translate quantum error-correction requirements (code distance, syndrome rates, latency budgets) into concrete classical compute, memory, and interconnect requirements - Design systems meeting deterministic latency, bandwidth, and reliability requirements across CPU, GPU, FPGA, and high-speed interconnect domains - Serve as technical POC for NVIDIA NVQLink integration, including topology, bandwidth modeling, latency characterization, and failure modes; direct interaction with NVIDIA personnel and HPC experts in academia and US national labs - Collaborate with Quantum Software, Physics, Electrical, and Systems Engineering teams on hardware/software interface co-design - Troubleshoot complex performance, scaling, and integration issues spanning firmware, drivers, OS (Embedded Linux/bare-metal), GPU runtimes, and hardware - Develop and maintain validation infrastructure, performance benchmarks, and test harnesses for deterministic behavior and scaling - Provide informal mentorship through design reviews, code reviews, and technical guidance Required qualifications: PhD preferred (or degree) in Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related field with HPC experience. Demonstrated experience owning complex embedded or systems-level software subsystems end-to-end. Strong C/C++ in performance-critical systems. Experience debugging across software/hardware boundaries (drivers, firmware, interconnects, timing). Solid understanding of computer architecture fundamentals. Experience with hardware/software co-design for quantum control systems. Linux-based embedded or HPC environment experience. GPU programming models (CUDA or equivalent) at systems level. Highly valued: HPC systems design/deployment, NVIDIA CUDA-Q familiarity, direct experience with NVIDIA Holoscan Sensor Bridge or similar high-speed coherent interconnects, error-correction decoding pipeline experience, background in advanced quantum architecture research, performance-modeling compute systems, FPGA-accelerated or heterogeneous compute systems experience, detail-oriented mindset with strong ownership and technical accountability, positive collaborative working style and mentoring enthusiasm. Note: This position may require access to information protected under U.S. export control laws (EAR and ITAR); employment offer may be conditioned on authorization to receive controlled software/technology without sponsorship for export license.
