Infleqtion's Quantum Computing Product Group is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to develop high-performance software systems that integrate classical computing resources with next-generation quantum hardware. You will design, implement, and optimize performance-critical software that orchestrates computation and data movement across CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, high-speed interconnects, and quantum systems.
Key responsibilities include designing and developing high-quality software for quantum-classical computing systems; building software components that coordinate computation across heterogeneous computing resources; developing systems operating under demanding latency, throughput, bandwidth, and reliability requirements; integrating software with CPUs, GPUs, FPGAs, accelerators, and high-speed networking technologies; analyzing system performance and identifying bottlenecks; developing tools, benchmarks, and observability capabilities; troubleshooting challenges spanning applications, operating systems, drivers, runtimes, networking, firmware, and hardware; collaborating across software, physics, electrical engineering, and systems teams; writing maintainable, well-tested code; providing technical guidance and mentorship; and rapidly evaluating new technologies as the quantum and HPC ecosystem evolves.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Physics, or related technical field (or equivalent practical experience); 5+ years of professional embedded software development experience; strong programming in C++, C, Rust, or Python; experience developing performance-critical, distributed, embedded, scientific, or HPC systems; strong software engineering fundamentals including testing, debugging, version control, and code review; Linux environment experience; ability to diagnose complex multi-layer system problems; strong understanding of computer systems fundamentals (concurrency, memory, networking, data movement, latency, throughput); and ability to work effectively across engineering disciplines.
Highly valued but not required: HPC systems and job schedulers (Slurm, PBS); GPU/accelerator programming (CUDA); distributed systems and high-performance networking; RoCE, RDMA, InfiniBand; heterogeneous computing; embedded Linux and firmware; performance profiling and optimization; scientific/numerical computing; real-time systems; FPGA acceleration; quantum computing and quantum software frameworks; R&D and rapid-prototyping experience; and open-source development.
This is a senior-level individual contributor role where you will independently own significant software and systems problems from design through implementation, validation, integration, and deployment, while collaborating closely with technical leads and engineers across disciplines.
