Archer is an aerospace company building all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise, advancing sustainable air mobility. This Senior Embedded Software Engineer role focuses on developing safety-critical embedded software for the aircraft's Charge Control Unit (CCU).
You will perform embedded development and verification of safety-critical software components, designing and implementing charge control systems that interface embedded software with high-voltage electrical components and analog/digital circuitry. Working in compliance with DO-178C aviation standards, you'll collaborate with systems engineers to decompose requirements into high-level and low-level software specifications.
Key responsibilities include developing fault detection and diagnostic algorithms to identify and respond to hardware-level events such as short circuits and sensor failures. You'll analyze hardware schematics to inform embedded software development, perform signal integrity and power distribution network design analysis, and participate in defining streamlined software development and verification processes supporting certification of safety-critical systems.
You'll work with a multi-disciplinary team to develop, integrate, verify, and certify complex hardware/software systems. This role requires deep expertise in embedded systems, real-time operating systems, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and communication protocols in a highly regulated aerospace environment.
Minimum requirements: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Electronics. Minimum 4 years of experience as an Embedded or Firmware Software Engineer designing and developing safety-critical embedded software using C/C++, working with RTOS or custom schedulers, performing HIL testing and debugging, and utilizing CAN, SPI, or I2C communication protocols.
