CesiumAstro develops advanced communication systems for satellites, UAVs, launch vehicles, and other space and airborne platforms. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer, you will own software development across the full stack—from low-level microcontroller firmware to high-level Linux-based applications—across all phases of the product lifecycle.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and develop software for Linux-based single-board computers and high-reliability microcontroller systems
- Lead software architecture from concept through production, including product roadmaps, block diagrams, and detailed design
- Write and optimize code across the embedded stack: microcontrollers, low-level drivers, board support packages (BSP), end-use applications, and user interfaces
- Conduct software testing, validation, and high-reliability qualification for space-grade systems
- Apply software engineering best practices and project management disciplines
- Present technical design reviews to customers and executive leadership
- Contribute to proposal-writing efforts
- Provide in-orbit support and troubleshooting
You will work in a dynamic, cross-functional environment with hands-on autonomy. The role requires deep expertise across the embedded software stack, strong testing and qualification experience, and excellent communication skills for customer-facing technical presentations.
Note: This role is initially remote with a planned transition to in-person work once the Florida office is established. U.S. citizenship or eligible immigration status is required to comply with space technology export regulations.
