Salary: USD 180,000 - 235,000 / annual

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. As a Senior Embedded Software Engineer on the Network Software team, you will architect, design, develop, and implement flight software that commands and monitors spacecraft. You'll work on both commercial and US Government programs, contributing to mission-critical systems that operate in space. Key responsibilities include: - Developing software for Flight Computers and Earth Stations Hubs - Writing firmware for control boards on satellites and ground infrastructure - Designing and implementing reliable software through requirements generation, continuous integration, automated testing, and code reviews - Collaborating with Payload, Communications, Ground Control, and Telemetry teams - Writing modern C++ code to interface with flight computers and custom hardware - Delivering complex projects through incremental development cycles - Mentoring junior engineers on the team You'll need 5-8+ years of professional software development experience in modern C++ or C, with strong fundamentals in software development methodologies and design patterns. Experience with communication protocols (TCP/IP, I2C, SPI) and building high-availability, high-reliability systems is essential. Excellent communication and written skills are required. Bonus qualifications include Python experience, embedded Linux/POSIX systems knowledge, experience with VxWorks, Linux, FreeRTOS, or QNX environments, demonstrated production software shipping experience, safety-critical development background (FDA, FAA, Automotive), and board bringup/hardware-software integration expertise.
