BinSentry is a fast-growing ag-tech company based in Kitchener, Ontario, focused on transforming the agriculture supply chain through AI-powered optical sensing and software solutions. The company helps feed mills and protein producers optimize feed ordering, improve animal health, enhance employee safety, and reduce environmental impact. BinSentry currently monitors over 64,000 bins in real time across North America.
As a Senior Embedded Software Developer, you will design, develop, and maintain embedded software for the sensor systems that power BinSentry's product line. Your responsibilities include:
- Writing embedded C code for microcontrollers that drive feed bin sensors, using FreeRTOS as the real-time operating system
- Developing embedded Linux applications using Yocto and writing Python code to support the HD product line
- Ensuring power-efficient, reliable, and resilient code that meets mission-critical requirements
- Conducting system debugging, reliability testing, and performance optimization
- Managing fleet deployments across the installed base
- Collaborating closely with hardware and software teams to ensure seamless integration
- Contributing to new hardware projects across the entire product portfolio
You will work with a team of senior-level developers who have significant agency and autonomy. The role requires hands-on technical expertise, including proficiency with oscilloscopes and hardware debugging techniques.
Required qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, or equivalent experience, plus 5+ years of professional embedded systems development. You must be proficient in mission-critical C or C++ and experienced in hardware debugging. Preferred skills include FreeRTOS, AWS IoT ecosystem, embedded Linux, Yocto, Python, JavaScript, and computer vision experience.
