The Connectivity Team owns strategically critical products: Verkada Gateways (bringing cameras, access control, and sensors online globally), Security Trailers (rapid-deploy mobile security units), and Quality Sensors (environmental intelligence at scale). The team is small and vertically integrated, touching embedded firmware, cellular modems, Linux networking, cloud backend services, and command frontends. In this Senior Embedded Linux Engineer role, you will be responsible for building software and firmware deployed to customer devices. You'll own the full engineering cycle end-to-end: scoping, architecture, low-level design, solutions trade-offs, and development using test-driven and data-driven methods. You'll demonstrate methodical problem-solving and debugging skills with strong motivation to build reliable, performant, and sustainable products. You'll work cross-functionally with product management to ship features that delight users and customers, mentor other engineers, and contribute to other parts of the stack (e.g., backend services) as interests align. Required: Bachelor's or Master's in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent; 4+ years embedded engineering experience; proficiency in C, C++, or Go; track record of owning software features or projects end-to-end with production launches. Preferred: experience with hardware product development (SPI, I2C, UART, FreeRTOS, Embedded Linux), networking and wireless communication protocols, Go and Python programming, and basic schematic reading. Must be willing and able to work onsite five days per week in San Mateo.
