We are seeking a Senior Electronics Engineer to join our Reliability Engineering team in Oxford. You will be responsible for identifying, root-causing, and permanently resolving electronics and control hardware issues on our operational trapped-ion quantum computers. Your work will directly contribute to improving fleet uptime and reducing operational costs across our commercial and development systems. You will own the full lifecycle of electrical reliability fixes—from identifying real-world bottlenecks through standardizing solutions into every future build. You'll work closely with Operations, Science, Manufacturing, and Engineering teams to keep quantum systems running reliably and effectively. Key responsibilities include: • Triage & Root Cause: Monitor, root-cause, and prioritize electrical, control-system, and drive-electronics issues on live systems based on severity and impact to uptime and performance. • Solution Development: Design, prototype, build, and test electrical fixes spanning schematic capture, PCB layout, and board- and system-level testing, taking solutions from concept through permanent integration. • Reliability Upgrade Leadership: Drive electrical workstreams for major fleet-wide upgrades (e.g., control-hardware consolidation, drive-electronics standardization, remote telemetry/monitoring for laser and system health) to reduce variance and downtime across systems. This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge quantum computing hardware at scale, solving complex reliability challenges that directly impact the performance of next-generation quantum systems.
