Salary: USD 128,000 - 162,000 / annual

Sila Nanotechnologies is a next-generation battery materials company focused on powering the world's transition to clean energy. The company engineers and manufactures breakthrough battery materials that significantly increase energy density while reducing size and weight, enabling smaller, more powerful batteries for consumer devices and electric vehicles. As a Senior Electrode Engineer, you will lead R&D efforts to understand and optimize the structure-property relationships of electrode materials and their impact on lithium-ion battery performance. Your responsibilities include investigating the roles of active materials, binders, and conductive additives; discovering and explaining the fundamentals of electrode component interactions with cell performance; and leading the design, development, qualification, and scale-up of novel electrodes from prototype through production. You will apply advanced data analysis, statistical methods, and modeling techniques to interpret test results and inform design iterations. You'll develop new test methods to detect downstream challenges early in development, effectively communicate findings to internal stakeholders and external partners, and work collaboratively across diverse teams to advance next-generation battery materials. The role requires a strong technical background in lithium-ion batteries, including experience with process steps such as slurry formulation, coating, cell design, and cell teardown. You should be well-organized, data-driven, and proficient with databases and analysis tools like JMP or Python. Exceptional communication skills are essential, with Japanese or Korean language fluency as a plus. You'll manage multiple projects simultaneously while maintaining rigorous lab safety standards. Physical demands include working in lab environments with personal protective equipment, operating analytical equipment, using glove boxes and fume hoods, and occasional domestic/international travel (up to 10%).
