Form Energy is hiring a Senior Electro Mechanical Design Engineer - Plant to optimize the design and manufacturability of balance-of-plant equipment for long-duration iron-air battery systems. You will produce complex electrical schematics, 3D models, and detailed mechanical prints with full specifications for equipment that must survive shipping, installation, operational lifetime, and field service at utility-scale project sites. You will specify and own testing requirements to prove functionality and reliability, partner with the supply chain team on component selection and vendor relationships, and manage engineering changes through the product lifecycle management system. This role requires independent generation of engineering documentation and requirements to interface with Electronics, Software, and Project Engineering teams. Key responsibilities include: defining electrical requirements and system interfaces for power conversion equipment and auxiliary systems; authoring comprehensive electrical schematics for build, test, installation, and service audiences; selecting off-the-shelf electromechanical components compliant with safety standards and driving down pricing and lead times; designing component layouts in SolidWorks and/or Eplan for space, cable routing, thermal management, and electronics placement; generating manufacturing documentation including multiline diagrams, harness drawings, and Interface Control Documents; authoring functional, performance, and End-of-Line test plans and operating procedures; performing hands-on prototype validation and characterization; developing environmental and electrical stress tests with the reliability team; managing product configuration, releases, and Bills of Materials using SolidWorks PDM and Arena PLM; and supporting field deployment and commissioning of first-in-kind installations. The company has been recognized by TIME as a "Best Invention," MIT Technology Review as a "Top Climate Tech Company To Watch," and Fast Company as "One of the Next Big Things In Tech." The company has signed contracts with leading electric utilities and is ramping production at its first high-volume manufacturing facility in West Virginia. Relocation assistance is available. REQUIREMENTS: - Bachelor's Degree in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering with 4+ years of industry experience in electromechanical design - Strong understanding of circuit fundamentals and thermal and mechanical considerations of circuits at high power density and high voltage - Proficiency in electrical design software (Altium, Eplan, and/or SolidWorks Electrical) - Experience with CAD software (SolidWorks and/or Eplan) for 3D modeling, component layouts, and product packaging - Hands-on experience assembling, troubleshooting, and validating self-designed equipment and prototypes - Demonstrated experience designing service procedures and engineering safeguards for high-voltage (1500 VDC) and high-current (>2 kA) systems; experience applying UL 1741, UL 508A, NFPA 70, and NFPA 70E - Excellent communication skills with ability to explain design decisions and execute multidisciplinary work - Sense of urgency and self-driven approach to meeting difficult schedule targets
