Northwood Space is a modern space infrastructure company building a global network of phased array ground stations for satellite communications supporting national security, global connectivity, and disaster response. The company designs, builds, and rapidly deploys vertically integrated systems for next-generation space missions.
As Senior Electrical Test Engineer, you will lead integrated test development from concept through production. Key responsibilities include designing hardware, wiring, and electrical systems to support electrical and RF testing for both production and development environments (fixtures, harnesses, interfaces, rack integration). You'll develop modular and reusable test automation software, including frameworks, drivers, and tooling in Linux environments using Python, Rust, or C++.
You will own test maintainability and reliability across the lifecycle—defining calibration procedures, upkeep protocols, debugging strategies, and continuous improvement of test assets. You'll create device and subsystem simulators for hardware-in-the-loop (HITL) and automated integration testing, and support environmental and qualification testing including thermal, vibration, and shock testing, defining instrumentation and procedures as needed.
Required: 4+ years of experience and a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field. Strong programming abilities in Python, C++, or Rust with comfort in Linux-based environments. Hands-on experience with electrical test equipment (power supplies, DC loads, oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, network analyzers).
Preferred: Experience root-causing issues in integrated electronics (mixed-signal, digital, RF-adjacent systems), familiarity with MIL-STD-810 test methods, experience designing test racks/ATE systems (PXI, USB/LXI instrumentation, custom interfaces), experience writing reusable test software patterns, and comfort working at the HW/SW boundary (firmware bring-up, control interfaces, fault injection, telemetry capture).
Note: Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed. ITAR compliance required—must be a U.S. citizen, lawful permanent resident, or eligible to obtain required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.
