Salary: USD 135,000 - 235,000 / annual

Astranis builds advanced satellites for high orbits, serving large enterprises, sovereign governments, and the US military. The company has five satellites on orbit with a backlog exceeding $1 billion in commercial contracts. With over $750 million in funding from top-tier investors and a team of 450 engineers, Astranis designs, builds, and operates satellites from its 153,000 sq. ft. Northern California headquarters. As Senior Electrical Reliability Engineer, you will ensure spacecraft electronics and systems meet stringent reliability and availability requirements. You'll collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to push the boundaries of geo-synchronous spacecraft design and embed Design for Reliability principles throughout engineering processes. Key responsibilities include: - Collaborate with engineering teams to ensure spacecraft operate reliably over their entire mission duration - Perform reliability and availability analysis using Reliability Block Diagrams and DFMEA methodologies - Advise engineers on optimal redundancy architecture for critical systems - Support engineering and production teams with design reviews, failure analysis, and root cause analysis - Plan and manage EEE (Electrical, Electronic, Electromechanical) component tests, defining reliability targets, sample sizes, and stress conditions for internal or external test labs Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, physics, materials science, or related engineering field - 5+ years of experience as a reliability or electrical engineer - 4+ years of experience in physics of failure, design for reliability, functional safety, or accelerated testing - Experience in electrical design including components, circuits, PCBs, or electronic assemblies - Proficiency in reliability statistics and data analysis - Strong analytical skills and collaborative team abilities - Excellent verbal and written communication Bonus qualifications include failure analysis and destructive physical analysis experience, familiarity with manufacturing processes and testing methodologies for electronic components, and knowledge of accelerated test profiles for component-level screening and qualification.
