Saronic Technologies is a leader in autonomous surface vessel (ASV) development for maritime defense applications. We are seeking a Senior Electrical R&D Test Engineer to join our dynamic R&D team in Austin, TX.
You will play a crucial role in engineering, designing, developing, and testing autonomous vehicle sub-systems. Your responsibilities will include:
- Understanding technical requirements and client briefs, then developing solutions that satisfy them
- Engaging in engineering, designing, prototype development, and enhancement of electro-mechanical systems and software for autonomous vehicles and related subsystems
- Applying engineering principles, best practices, and analysis across mechanical, electrical, electronics, and software domains
- Conducting applied research, documenting findings, and presenting reports
- Developing design documents for parts, sub-systems, and fully integrated systems
- Selecting required tools and materials for manufacturing, assembly, and maintenance
- Integrating electro-mechanical systems and software into fully integrated systems
- Performing proof of concept, functionality, and reliability testing of components, sub-systems, and integrated systems
- Participating in and leading testing efforts in laboratory and field environments, including marine environments
- Identifying trends in runtime and failures of ASV components through analysis of datasets
- Identifying system and process weaknesses and recommending improvements
- Supporting troubleshooting and independently resolving electrical and system-level issues
- Collaborating with technicians and providing guidance on build, integration, and testing activities
- Contributing to the development of ASV platforms and their interfacing software
You will work within demanding timeframes, develop original practical solutions to technical and logistical problems, and operate with limited oversight. This is a hands-on role requiring deep technical expertise and the ability to work across multiple engineering disciplines.
