Saronic Technologies, founded in 2022 and headquartered in Austin, is developing autonomous surface vessels for maritime defense. The company is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer – Power Systems to lead the design, specification, implementation, and validation of electrical power generation and distribution architectures for autonomous maritime platforms operating in extreme environments. In this hands-on, design-driven role, you will own the full lifecycle of power subsystems—from requirements development and component selection through prototype testing and field commissioning. Key responsibilities include: • Design and validate power generation, distribution, and conversion systems for ruggedized autonomous maritime platforms • Develop system requirements, specifications, and detailed engineering documentation (one-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams) • Conduct electrical analyses including load studies, short-circuit calculations, voltage drop, harmonic analysis, and reliability assessments (FMEA, FTA) • Evaluate and select components suitable for harsh marine, shock, vibration, and thermal environments • Perform trade studies benchmarking systems from automotive, defense, mining, and aerospace industries • Collaborate with mechanical, software, and autonomy teams on system integration and interoperability • Support prototype builds, lab testing, dockside trials, and at-sea commissioning • Mentor junior engineers in power system fundamentals and ruggedization techniques You bring proven experience designing or specifying electrical power systems for marine, automotive, defense, aerospace, or mining vehicles. Preferred qualifications include familiarity with AC power distribution (120/240/480V), generator controls, electrical interlocks, fieldbus protocols (Ethernet, CAN, RS485), electrical safety standards (UL, CE, ABS), and exposure to autonomous or remote system architectures. This is a senior individual contributor role with mentoring responsibilities, offering the opportunity to shape power architecture decisions for next-generation autonomous maritime systems at a well-funded, mission-driven defense technology company.
