Apptronik is a human-centered robotics company developing AI-powered humanoid robots (Apollo) to support humanity across manufacturing, logistics, healthcare, and beyond. We're seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to own the power electronics and power distribution subsystems for Apollo. In this role, you will drive electronics development from concept through production, owning PCBA designs and vendor relationships for power distribution and battery systems. Key responsibilities include: • Design, simulate, implement, and test multi-layer mixed-signal PCBAs with rapid prototyping at system and board levels. Generate comprehensive design documentation including schematics, block diagrams, test plans, fabrication drawings, and assembly instructions. • Own the battery module strategy, driving execution across internal teams (mechanical, electrical, firmware), supply chain, and external vendors under technical lead oversight. • Develop and execute comprehensive validation and test plans (DVT/PVT), design test fixtures, and use advanced lab equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers) to ensure compliance with performance, safety, and reliability specifications. • Perform root-cause analysis on hardware/firmware defects and unusual failure modes using sophisticated debugging techniques to implement robust corrective actions. • Manage component lifecycle through PLM systems, own third-party vendor and contract manufacturer relationships, and ensure successful production scaling with design-for-manufacturability focus. • Collaborate cross-functionally with technical leads, project managers, software, mechanical, thermal, and systems engineers. Mentor junior electrical engineers on hardware design best practices. Required experience includes power electronics (DC/DC converters, three-phase motor controls, GaN/FET switching, thermal design, protection schemes), battery modules and BMS, PCB/PCBA design and debugging, CAD tools (Altium or equivalent), PLM systems (Arena), and electronics lab/simulation tools (LTSpice, PSpice). Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field with 5+ years of experience required. Up to 10% travel within US and internationally.
