Radiant is building the world's first mass-produced, portable nuclear microreactors. The company's flagship product, Kaleidos, is a 1-megawatt, fail-safe microreactor designed for rapid deployment to hospitals, data centers, remote sites, and military bases, capable of running for up to 5 years without refueling. Founded in 2020, Radiant is preparing for initial customer deliveries in 2028. As Senior Electrical Engineer for PCB Design, you will own the full-stack electrical architecture for reactor control and instrumentation systems, serving as the technical authority for custom hardware. Your responsibilities span the complete PCB lifecycle: requirements definition, schematic capture, component selection, multilayer PCB layout, bring-up, validation, and field deployment. Key responsibilities include designing mixed-signal PCBs for reactor control with emphasis on power distribution, analog front-ends, and digital control interfaces. You will define electrical architecture, design low-noise analog circuits, perform schematic capture and layout with focus on signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation. You'll develop and review high-speed and precision layouts for sensor interfaces, data acquisition paths, and communication buses. Hardware bring-up, debugging, and validation—including board-level testing and root-cause analysis—are core to the role. You will create and execute hardware validation and qualification test plans for performance, reliability, and environmental conditions, and collaborate cross-functionally with firmware, FPGA, DSP, and systems engineers. Required: Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering or related field; 5+ years designing custom PCBs including multilayer and mixed-signal boards; proficiency with schematic capture and PCB layout tools (Altium, Cadence, or similar); strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, grounding, and EMI/EMC mitigation; experience with analog and mixed-signal design, sensor interfaces, ADC/DAC integration, and low-noise practices; familiarity with high-speed interfaces (SPI, I2C, UART, Ethernet); hands-on board bring-up and debugging experience with lab instrumentation; ability to work cross-disciplinarily in complex engineering environments. Desired qualifications include Master's degree, experience in high-reliability or harsh environments (nuclear, aerospace, defense, industrial), familiarity with radiation effects and radiation-tolerant electronics, power electronics or power distribution design experience, FPGA or embedded systems exposure, nuclear instrumentation background, and DFM/DFT expertise. Role requires 100% onsite presence at El Segundo headquarters and willingness to work extended hours and weekends as needed.
