Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for global connectivity, protection, and exploration to the Moon, Mars, and beyond. The Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions, including interplanetary exploration, in-space manufacturing, and national security initiatives, working with NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force. As a Senior Electrical Engineer II based at Rocket Lab's Long Beach headquarters, you will participate in the development and test of avionics hardware for spacecraft programs. You will work collaboratively across engineering disciplines throughout the full lifecycle of electrical hardware development: requirements definition, design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production. You will have frequent opportunities to test and operate your systems on-orbit. Key responsibilities include: - Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with other engineering disciplines - Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer - Conduct circuit analysis, including power, tolerance, and reliability assessments - Execute PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing - Provide production manufacturing support as needed You bring 8+ years of electrical hardware design experience, including schematic capture and PCB layout. You have a strong background in analog electronics design and proficiency with circuit analysis tools (SPICE, Excel) and Altium Designer for complex PCB design. You have knowledge of processors, FPGAs, switch-mode power supplies, communication interfaces, and analog instrumentation. U.S. citizenship is required due to program requirements. Desirable qualifications include a Master's or PhD in electrical/computer engineering, proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, soldering), experience designing for space environments (radiation mitigation), high-reliability aerospace applications, rigid-flex PCBs, FPGA design, and embedded software development for ARM processors.
