Rocket Lab is an end-to-end space company building rockets, spacecraft, and critical subsystems for global connectivity, national security, and deep-space exploration. The Space Systems team has enabled over 1,700 missions including interplanetary exploration, in-space manufacturing, and defense initiatives, partnering with NASA, the Space Development Agency, and the U.S. Space Force. As a Senior Electrical Engineer I based at Rocket Lab's Long Beach headquarters, you will develop and test avionics hardware for spacecraft programs. Working collaboratively across engineering disciplines, you will participate in all phases of electrical hardware development: requirements definition, design, prototyping, fabrication, testing, and production. You will have frequent opportunities to test and operate your systems on-orbit. Key responsibilities include: - Develop PCBA requirements in collaboration with other engineering disciplines - Perform schematic capture and PCB layout using Altium Designer - Conduct circuit analysis including power, tolerance, and reliability studies - Execute PCBA design verification testing and system integration testing - Provide production manufacturing support as needed Required qualifications: - Bachelor's degree in electrical, computer, or related engineering discipline - 5+ years of electrical hardware design experience including schematic capture and PCB layout - Strong background in analog electronics design - Proficiency with circuit analysis in SPICE and Excel - Active Secret Clearance with ability to obtain TS/SCI Desirable qualifications include Master's or PhD in engineering, proficiency with lab equipment (oscilloscopes, power supplies, DMMs, soldering), experience designing for space environments and radiation mitigation, high-reliability aerospace design experience, rigid-flex PCB design, FPGA and ARM embedded software development, and demonstrated ability to manage competing priorities in dynamic environments. This is a fast-paced role requiring passion for spacecraft electrical hardware design and willingness to learn continuously. The position may involve prolonged sitting, standing, computer work, and occasional exposure to moderate noise, dust, and fumes in production areas.
