This Senior Electrical Engineer role offers end-to-end ownership of critical electrical hardware and PCBA designs for Mainspring's revolutionary Linear Generator. You will take technical leadership on low-voltage control systems and guide cross-functional teams through complex engineering challenges, moving well beyond routine component-level work.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design low-voltage (<60V) electrical systems and PCBAs that enable core functions and expand Linear Generator capability
- Own full bring-up, validation, and qualification of custom electrical hardware designs
- Lead cross-functional design reviews to present concepts, align requirements, and secure approvals
- Debug and troubleshoot complex hardware issues across field deployments, test labs, and production
- Partner with reliability engineers to analyze hardware performance and increase system robustness
- Collaborate with NPI teams and external suppliers to optimize designs for manufacturability and testability
- Interface with high-voltage hardware teams and define requirements for cabling and embedded firmware
- Mentor peers while collaborating with a world-class engineering team
Required qualifications: 5+ years experience with Bachelor's degree (or 4+ years with Master's) in Electrical Engineering or related field. Proven hands-on experience designing and realizing low-voltage electrical hardware (DC/DC converters, relays, e-fuses, MOSFETs). Proficiency with PCBA schematic capture and PCB design tools (Altium preferred). Strong fundamentals in analog/mixed-signal design, operational amplifiers, ADCs, and hardware filtering. Experience with component derating analysis, tolerance stack-ups, and DFMEA. Demonstrated ability to drive projects from requirements through production. Collaborative mindset with strong cross-functional communication.
Preferred: Full hardware development lifecycle experience, familiarity with hardware reliability and environmental validation testing (HALT, thermal, Hipot, vibration), startup or rapid product development background, project management tools (Jira, Confluence), and basic programming/scripting (Python, C, C++) for lab automation.
