Anduril Industries, a defense technology company, is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Engineer to develop and test cutting-edge electronics for avionics propulsion systems. Based in Costa Mesa, CA, this role focuses on designing, analyzing, testing, and integrating propulsion-subsystem electronics from concept through production.
Key responsibilities include full-cycle PCB design using Altium, translating system-level propulsion requirements into robust electrical designs. You will design and optimize flight controller circuits, power distribution/supplies, motor controller circuits, and electromagnetic actuator circuits. The role demands rigorous analysis including circuit simulations, worst-case analysis, thermal analysis, DFMEA, and component derating to ensure reliability under extreme vibration and temperature environments.
You will lead board bring-ups, Design Verification Testing (DVT), qualification testing, and functional testing. Collaboration is central—you'll work closely with mechanical, thermal, software, test, quality, manufacturing, and systems engineering teams. Additional responsibilities include conducting peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews, performing root cause and failure analysis in support of engine test and field operations, and managing key vendor relationships.
Required qualifications: Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering with 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex board designs. You must have solid fundamentals across analog, digital, and power electronics; deep proficiency with Altium Designer and LTSpice; competence with laboratory test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, thermal chambers, spectrum analyzers, DMMs, electronic loads, power supplies); familiarity with standard interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet) and common MCU/CPU architectures; and eligibility to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include a Master's Degree in Electrical Engineering and experience with MATLAB/Simulink for data analysis, control loop modeling, or system simulations.
