Relativity Space is building next-generation rockets and spacecraft systems to enable commercial and scientific space exploration. The Interplanetary Sciences Program aims to democratize deep space exploration by making planetary research faster, more affordable, and more capable. As Staff Electrical Engineer, you will own the design, development, and qualification of high-performance spacecraft electronics for deep space missions. Your responsibilities include: • Design and build compute modules, network switches, storage nodes, and communications terminals for spacecraft • Balance competing technical constraints: power budgets, thermal management, EMI, mechanical integration, and reliability requirements • Work closely with science teams to maximize mission capability while respecting spacecraft constraints • Collaborate with software teams to bring up core infrastructure on both spacecraft and ground systems • Lead hands-on development campaigns to evaluate emerging technologies, derisk critical interfaces, and validate performance • Prototype, test, and iterate rapidly in a fast-paced environment before full system integration and flight qualification • Coordinate across internal and external teams to transition concepts from analysis through prototypes to flight-ready hardware This is a high-autonomy, high-accountability role in a startup environment where you'll see your work directly impact deep space science missions. You'll operate at the intersection of cutting-edge terrestrial compute technology and the extreme constraints of space flight, challenging conventional approaches to onboard systems.
