Besxar Space Industries is building off-Earth foundries that leverage the natural ultra-high vacuum of space as a manufacturing input. The company designs Fabships to produce ultra-high-yield semiconductor materials with purity and defect performance difficult or impossible to achieve on Earth. This is production hardware, not a science project—the focus is on rapid iteration, disciplined execution, and first-principles design.
As Senior Electrical Design Engineer, you will lead electrical engineering R&D and own major ECAD assemblies for Fabship development. You'll translate mission and business requirements into flightworthy electrical hardware and integration plans, helping define how the electrical team operates as the company scales.
Key responsibilities include:
- Lead electrical design and R&D across power electronics, avionics, RF subsystems, instrumentation, DAQ, and test interfaces
- Own major ECAD assemblies and electrical product structure/BOM for critical systems with strong configuration discipline
- Translate system requirements into manufacturable, testable, high-reliability designs balancing performance, mass, power, thermal behavior, radiation tolerance, EMI/EMC, fault protection, and cost
- Drive full hardware lifecycle from concept through component selection, schematic capture, PCB layout, prototype builds, board bring-up, verification, qualification, and flight feedback
- Design circuits for high-power electronics, power conversion, mixed-signal interfaces, RF chains, spacecraft instrumentation, and sensor/actuator interfaces using space-rated and radiation-tolerant components
- Lead hands-on assembly, lab bring-up, and integration of PCBAs, harnesses, and test setups
- Create and review board bring-up test plans, work instructions, and environmental test documentation
- Develop post-launch inspection criteria and checkout flows for repeated flight operations
- Perform electrical analyses including worst-case analysis, grounding, EMI/EMC, radiation considerations, and failure mode assessments
- Partner with technicians, manufacturing, supply chain, and vendors through fabrication, assembly, verification, and environmental test
- Lead design reviews, root-cause investigations, and anomaly resolution
- Help define electrical engineering standards, ECAD conventions, library management, and design processes
- Mentor other engineers as the electrical team grows
You will work shoulder-to-shoulder with systems, mechanical, software, materials, manufacturing, and test teams to build flight hardware on real schedules with hands-on leadership across all phases.
