Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Electrical Design Engineer to join the Air Dominance and Strike (AD&S) team in Costa Mesa, California. This role focuses on developing high-reliability avionics, embedded processing, and power systems for Group 5 air vehicles and missile platforms. You will work across hardware, software, and mission autonomy to deliver flight-critical electronics, PCB assemblies, and FPGA-based processing architectures for next-generation autonomous air platforms operating in complex and contested environments.
Key responsibilities include full-cycle PCB design from requirements collection through schematic design, component selection, layout supervision, bring-up, test, debug, and system integration. You will conduct microcontroller bring-up and design work, troubleshoot issues spanning electrical and software boundaries using lab equipment and debugging tools, and perform power design including development of power management systems. Additional duties involve developing payloads and subsystems (sensors, payload interfaces, power management, networking), creating system interconnect diagrams, defining wire harnesses, and collaborating with electrical, mechanical, software, firmware, and test engineers. You will conduct peer-level and cross-discipline design reviews in a fast-paced environment supporting new developments, active deployments, and customer-operated hardware.
Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 8+ years of experience designing, testing, and troubleshooting complex systems. You must demonstrate high competence with lab test equipment (power supplies, oscilloscopes, DMM, logic/spectrum analyzers), familiarity with common electrical bus interfaces (CAN, I2C, SPI, Ethernet, RS232/422, RS485, USB), and hands-on experience with microcontrollers. Strong knowledge of modern analog and digital electronics, mixed-signal PCB design with multiple layer counts, impedance matching, grounding approaches, and board protections is essential. Understanding of low and high voltage power electronics and control systems is required. Exceptional organization and communication skills are critical, and you must be eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. security clearance.
Preferred qualifications include experience with high-end consumer or military embedded systems design, power systems including batteries and AC power, low-level firmware development for bring-up and test, and background in defense and missile systems.
