Oura is seeking a Senior Director of Technology Development to lead the manufacturing technology roadmap for next-generation Oura Ring products. This hands-on executive role bridges Product Design, Industrial Design, Hardware Engineering, Materials, Quality, Sourcing, Operations, and contract manufacturers to transform emerging technologies into scalable, repeatable production capabilities. You will own a multi-year roadmap spanning battery technology, zirconia and brittle materials, PVD coatings, molding and encapsulation, and manufacturing automation. Key responsibilities include building and leading a multidisciplinary team of senior engineers and subject-matter experts; establishing reusable "golden processes" and technology platforms that improve yield, reliability, cost, cycle time, and launch speed; and partnering early with design teams to influence architecture, materials, and process choices. You will create a disciplined development funnel from opportunity identification through experimentation, qualification, early validation, NPI, and ramp. This includes leading supplier and contract manufacturer engagement on process development, equipment selection, qualification, and scale-up. You will set technical readiness standards, maintain roadmaps and risk registers, and communicate investment recommendations to leadership. Specific focus areas include battery cell architecture, energy density, safety, and manufacturability; brittle material forming, machining, sintering, and finishing; PVD capabilities for functional and cosmetic requirements; injection molding, epoxy molding, and encapsulation processes; and automation strategy across assembly, battery processing, inspection, and testing. You will drive design-for-manufacturability reviews, reduce defects, improve process windows, and advance robotics, machine vision, and automated data capture. Success means delivering a clear, funded roadmap aligned with product and manufacturing strategy; earlier and stronger technology input into product architecture; and reusable process platforms that reduce launch risk and development time.
