Ripple is seeking a Senior Director of Security Engineering to lead a dedicated team securing the company's products, infrastructure, and corporate IT systems. This is a hands-on leadership role requiring deep technical expertise and strategic vision. You will be responsible for building and mentoring a team of security engineers while defining Ripple's security strategy and fostering a security-first culture across the organization. The role sits at the intersection of traditional security engineering and emerging AI security challenges, requiring expertise in securing AI agents, agentic workflows, and AI-assisted development tools. Key responsibilities include: - Setting strategic vision and roadmap for security engineering, with emphasis on product security, infrastructure security, IT security, and AI security - Serving as security domain expert, communicating risks and concepts to senior leadership and engineering teams - Defining guardrails around AI agents and tools, including scope boundaries, blast radius limits, and rollback mechanisms - Implementing agentic SDLC guardrails, testing gates, and human oversight for AI-assisted development - Leading, mentoring, and strengthening the security engineering team - Driving security integration into day-to-day development processes - Leading security architecture reviews for new products and major initiatives - Owning vulnerability management program, including penetration testing coordination and remediation prioritization - Collaborating with engineering, product, and IT leadership on security alignment Required qualifications: - 15+ years security engineering experience with 5+ years in leadership/management roles - Preferred background in crypto, blockchain, or fintech - Hands-on expertise in AI security, including LLM and AI agent risk assessment - Expert-level knowledge of security architecture, cloud environments (AWS, GCP, Azure), and network security - Strong understanding of cryptographic principles, secure coding, and web/blockchain vulnerabilities - Experience with authentication/authorization standards (OAuth, SAML, OIDC) - Demonstrated IT security expertise: endpoint protection, network security, IAM, corporate security policy - Threat modeling and risk identification experience - Ability to communicate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences - Track record building high-performing security teams and fostering positive security culture
