Scanner is building the world's fastest full-text search and detection platform for security data lakes, enabling security teams to search petabytes of logs in seconds—up to 700x faster than alternatives. The company offers two deployment models: managed SaaS (Scanner-operated AWS infrastructure) and Bring Your Own Cloud (customer AWS accounts), both handling hundreds of terabytes to petabytes of logs daily across dozens of accounts.
As Senior DevOps Engineer, you will own Scanner's deployment, upgrade, and operational infrastructure end-to-end. This is a high-impact individual contributor role in an early-stage, fast-moving team where infrastructure decisions directly affect product reliability, security posture, and customer experience.
Key responsibilities:
- Design, build, and maintain infrastructure-as-code (Pulumi/Terraform) for multi-account, multi-region AWS deployments
- Own CI/CD pipelines and release processes
- Implement enterprise-grade security: least-privilege IAM, private networking, SOC 2 Type II compliance evidence
- Drive observability, incident response, and cost optimization at scale
- Support both SaaS and customer-deployed architectures
- Debug and troubleshoot Rust-based backend services
Required experience:
- Minimum 5 years in infrastructure, DevOps, SRE, or platform engineering
- Deep AWS expertise (IAM, VPC, ECS, Lambda, S3)
- Production infrastructure-as-code across multiple accounts/regions
- End-to-end CI/CD ownership
- Strong security and compliance mindset
- TypeScript proficiency (Pulumi) and ability to read/debug Rust
- Comfort in fast-paced, low-process environments
Tech stack: Pulumi, AWS (Lambda, ECS, S3, MySQL), Rust backend, Svelte/TypeScript frontend. The role offers ownership, direct user impact, and the chance to solve genuinely hard distributed systems problems at massive scale.
