The Core Engineering teams at Deliveroo build the systems and tooling that enable engineers across Wolt, Deliveroo, and DoorDash to develop, ship, and operate software at scale. As a Senior DevOps Engineer in the Infrastructure team, you'll own foundational compute and cloud components including Kubernetes clusters, cloud infrastructure, networking, and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.
You'll split your time between hands-on operational ownership and writing production-quality code to build automation and tooling that removes toil and friction. Key responsibilities include taking end-to-end ownership of complex infrastructure initiatives spanning Kubernetes, AWS, and IaC frameworks; designing and operating secure, scalable systems; building self-service tooling and automation frameworks; and serving as a first responder during on-call rotations for core infrastructure.
You'll independently plan and drive technical improvements using data and success metrics, break down initiatives into executable work with accurate estimates, and unblock other teams through code reviews, knowledge sharing, and internal tech talks. You'll also drive team-wide quality objectives for reliability, operational readiness, and developer experience, act as a role model through feedback and support for hiring, and partner with platform teams across the three companies to align on shared standards and infrastructure roadmap.
Required qualifications include a track record of owning complex technical initiatives end-to-end with architecture-level decision-making; deep hands-on expertise operating Kubernetes in production; strong experience with AWS (networking, IAM, account structuring, cost management); proficiency in Terraform and building provisioning frameworks; solid software engineering skills in Go, Python, or similar for internal tooling; knowledge of supporting technologies like Kafka, gRPC, Postgres, MongoDB, Redis, and CI/CD; understanding of SRE principles; and experience mentoring and unblocking other engineers. Nice-to-haves include GitOps tooling experience, multi-cluster/multi-region Kubernetes, GCP exposure, cloud cost optimization, and open-source infrastructure contributions.
