Firestorm is building the future of expeditionary defense manufacturing and autonomous systems, including modular unmanned aircraft and deployable microfactories designed for rapid deployment and adaptability in field environments.
As Senior DevOps Build Engineer, you will own the build and release engineering function that transforms source code into secure, reproducible, deployable artifacts across defense and government contract programs. This role sits at the intersection of software engineering and platform operations, with emphasis on developer experience, build performance, and release integrity.
Key responsibilities include:
• Design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines (GitLab CI, GitHub Actions, Jenkins) that compile, test, package, and publish software across multiple programs
• Own build automation and release engineering end-to-end: reproducible builds, semantic versioning, dependency management, and environment promotion
• Manage artifact repositories and container registries (Artifactory, Nexus, ECR/ACR) with focus on retention, access control, and provenance
• Develop build tooling and scripts (Bash, Python, Make, Bazel, Gradle) to standardize and accelerate builds across teams
• Optimize build performance through caching, parallelization, and incremental strategies to reduce cycle time and cost
• Integrate automated security and quality gates (SAST, SCA, dependency scanning, SBOM generation) into pipelines
• Build and maintain hardened, compliant container images and base image pipelines
• Automate infrastructure and build-environment provisioning using infrastructure-as-code (Terraform)
• Partner with development, security, and compliance teams to deliver self-service tooling and generate audit evidence
• Maintain documentation, runbooks, and standards for build and release processes
Required: Bachelor's in Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent; 8+ years in build/release engineering, DevOps, or software infrastructure; hands-on CI/CD pipeline design; strong Python and Bash scripting; artifact and dependency management experience; Git proficiency; Docker containerization; major cloud provider experience (AWS or Azure); U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain/maintain U.S. Government security clearance.
Preferred: DevSecOps experience with SAST/DAST/SCA, software supply chain security, SBOM, artifact signing; Kubernetes (EKS, AKS, Helm); GitOps workflows (ArgoCD, Flux); Conan C/C++ package manager; AWS GovCloud/Azure Government/IL4/IL5 environments; DoD/federal compliance frameworks (NIST 800-53/171, CMMC, FedRAMP, DFARS); Active Secret or Top Secret clearance.
