As a Senior Developer Experience Security Engineer, you will embed security into Motorway's developer workflows and platform infrastructure. Reporting to an Engineering Manager, you'll design and implement secure-by-default platform capabilities including IAM patterns, network primitives, secrets management, runtime protections, and encryption that product teams can easily adopt.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and maintain secure platform capabilities that reduce cognitive load for engineering teams
- Build automated security checks, guardrails, and continuous risk assessment to minimize manual audits
- Embed secure software development practices into CI/CD pipelines, templates, and shared tooling using shift-left and secure-by-design principles
- Reduce toil for the technology and Security Operations teams through automation, scripting, and workflow optimization
- Establish platform-level security telemetry, logging, and monitoring as standard capabilities across all teams
- Define and implement platform-wide security use cases including SIEM detections, alerts, and signals that scale without bespoke configuration
- Collaborate with the Security Operations Team on incident response as part of a virtual SOC
- Translate security policies and standards into practical, enforceable platform patterns and guardrails
- Enable secure engineering practices through documentation, examples, platform defaults, and targeted training
You'll bring proven experience as a Platform or Developer Experience engineer, strong knowledge of containers, serverless architecture, and Infrastructure as Code. AWS cloud security expertise, understanding of secure software development practices, and familiarity with security tools (SIEM, IDS/IPS, WAF, vulnerability scanners) are essential. Knowledge of MITRE ATT&CK frameworks and security standards (ISO27001, NIST CSF, AWS FSBP) is valuable. Relevant certifications such as GCLD, Security+, or AWS/GCP Security certifications are a plus.
