Zscaler is seeking a Senior Detection Engineer to join the Threat Hunting department in Pune, reporting to the Senior Manager, Threat Researcher. This hybrid role offers significant technical ownership and impact within a fast-growing cybersecurity platform.
You will own a complete coverage area within threat detection, serving as the ultimate point of contact for its technical direction, efficacy, and content quality. Your responsibilities include:
• Take complete accountability for your domain's health, backlog prioritization, and performance metrics
• Personally tackle the most complex detection challenges to establish design patterns, coding standards, and implementation blueprints for the team
• Define and enforce criteria for validated, tuned, and maintainable detection content through design reviews and root-cause analysis
• Drive core health metrics including detection fidelity, ATT&CK coverage, false-positive/negative rates, and regression prevention
• Translate threat intelligence, proactive threat hunting, and SOC analyst feedback into concrete roadmap priorities and continuous improvements
You should have deep detection experience in at least one domain (Endpoint MDR, Cloud/SaaS, Identity, Email, or SIEM) with a track record of owning technical work end-to-end. Strong fundamentals in AI/ML technologies, attacker behavior (ATT&CK framework), and detector-as-code practices (Git, CI/CD) are essential. Programming skills in Python, Go, or Ruby, plus experience with AI-driven automation and LLMs for detection workflows, are highly valued.
