Anduril Industries is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer with deep expertise in Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA) to join their Costa Mesa headquarters. You will own the design and manufacturability of components and assemblies across Anduril's portfolio of autonomous air, land, and maritime systems, from concept through prototype and high-rate production. Key responsibilities include applying rigorous DFM/DFA principles to maximize production throughput, reliability, and cost-efficiency. You will design parts and complex assemblies leveraging diverse manufacturing processes: welded structures (MIG, TIG, FCAW, automated), precision 3-axis and 5-axis CNC machining, injection-molded plastics with tooling considerations, advanced composite manufacturing (layup, molding, secondary operations), and structural bonding/adhesive joining. You will author, check, and release fully defined engineering drawing packages in strict accordance with ASME Y14.5 standards. Additional responsibilities include developing detailed work instructions and assembly documentation for production floor execution, performing comprehensive tolerance stack-up analyses and DFMEAs to de-risk manufacturing bottlenecks, and collaborating closely with Manufacturing, Tooling, Quality, and Supply Chain teams to troubleshoot issues and streamline production. The role includes mentoring junior hardware engineers in drawing standards, GD&T application, and practical manufacturing best practices. You will sit at the critical intersection of product design and production reality, ensuring Anduril's hardware can be rapidly built, scaled, and deployed at mission speed. Required: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, or Aerospace Engineering; 7+ years of hands-on mechanical design with proven DFM/DFA focus; high proficiency with modern 3D CAD (SolidWorks, NX, Creo) and PDM/PLM systems; expert-level ASME Y14.5 (GD&T) knowledge; deep domain experience designing for at least three of: weldments, precision machining/sheet metal, injection molding tooling, composite structures, or structural bonding. Must be eligible to obtain/maintain US Security Clearance.
