Anduril Industries is a defense technology company transforming U.S. and allied military capabilities through advanced technology. The Imaging team builds and fields state-of-the-art camera and sensor systems deployed to solve real security challenges. This role is a Mission Software Engineer on the Imaging Interfaces team, focused on keeping fielded systems alive and operational. You will own the health and uptime of deployed imaging systems, responsible for triaging and resolving issues across the full stack—from bare-metal hardware and firmware to networked services and cloud integrations. The work is varied: you might spend a morning extending a gRPC service, an afternoon diagnosing a time sync issue on a deployed device over the phone with a field operator, and a week traveling to support a customer integration. Key responsibilities include building and maintaining production services that run on edge-compute devices in austere environments; supporting field operations by working directly with operators and non-technical users to diagnose and resolve issues; serving as a subject matter expert in integrations with other products and teams; and maintaining end-to-end system understanding across hardware, firmware, networking, and software. You'll collaborate across teams to plan, build, and test complex functionality alongside firmware, hardware, and platform engineers. Travel is expected approximately 15% of the time for field testing and customer integrations. Required qualifications: 5+ years of software development with meaningful production responsibility; strong Python and C++ skills; 5+ years working in Linux-based environments including bare-metal hardware; demonstrated ability to diagnose and resolve issues across system boundaries; strong written and verbal communication skills; willingness to travel 15% of the time; and eligibility to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret clearance. Preferred qualifications include experience with gRPC or similar RPC frameworks, familiarity with systems service management and observability practices on Linux, React/JSX experience, familiarity with Nix or NixOS, and experience supporting fielded or deployed systems.
